Our Academy programmes are 12 week, full or part-time alternative development programmes for young people aged between 15 and 18. Developed with Robert Gordon University, they are aimed at young people who are currently, or at risk of becoming, disengaged from traditional forms of education. These programmes aim to re-engage participants through aesthetic learning experiences with unique and dynamic activities over a 12 week period, increasing participants’ confidence and motivation, and assisting them in progressing onto a positive destination.
Transition Extreme has successfully delivered 13 Academy programmes over the last 2 years, with over 250 young people participating and 90% of graduates have moved onto a positive destination, whether that is back to school, further training or employment.
Transition Extreme was chosen to represent the UK in Europe’s ‘Youth in Action’ Summit, in France in 2012. The European Union’s Youth in Action Event aims to provide a platform for leading European youth organisations to exchange knowledge and expertise, relating to the ‘mobility of young people with fewer opportunities’.
“My son would give up and walk away from anything that was difficult before the Alternative Academy but now he has a real determination to succeed, belief in himself and a clear sense of direction in what he wants to do and how to achieve it”
(Parent of Graduate 2011).
Our next Alternative Academy programme will start on Monday 11th September, 4 days a week (mon- thus), 10am to 3pm for 12 weeks. If you know of a young person who might be interested and would fit the style of programme offered please fill out below application form or email for more information.
