This grass-roots competition is a great way for you to have a go at competition climbing, perhaps for the first time ever, and compete against your friends in your school year group and others across the country! And it’s not just about schools: children can enter on their own, for their school or any other youth group they are part of.
So if you want to compete on behalf of your scout or guides group, cadet group or even your Duke of Edinburgh group, ask your group leader to get a team together.
Since it was started in 2010 by Glasgow Climbing Centre (GCC) and supported by St Aloysius College, the SSCC has grown in popularity every year. As a result, it is now a ‘national’ event, which has led GCC to pass on the running of the competition to our ClimbScotland team.
The SSCC has a simple format with a free-to-enter drop-in qualifying round at host walls across Scotland. The age categories you will be competing in are the school year you are in, no matter whether you are competing for your school or your youth group. The competition is open to any young climber attending school in Scotland from primary school (P4) to Secondary School (S6) which covers the same age range as our ClimbScotland Youth Climbing Series.”
We have the final this year!
