This years’ competition starts on 9 September 2019
So whats it all about? The CSFC focus is on young climbers who are just starting out in competitions. It offers a great way to have a go at competition climbing, perhaps for the first time ever, and compete against your friends whether they are from your school, in your youth group or your climbing club or squad. Changes made to the Youth Climbing Series (YCS) to bring that competition more in line with the international event format means that the YCS is no longer the grass-roots competition for young climbers in Scotland.
Climbers compete in the age categories used in all our youth competitions (see below) and can potentially be selected to attend the final and compete for a podium place as individuals. But there will also be trophies for different ‘Teams’ and each climber can select which, if any, team they wish to have their scores counted for: So if you want to compete on behalf of your school, your scout group, guides group, cadet force, climbing club or climbing wall squad, ask your group leader to get a team together. You can only compete for one team! Or you can simply compete under your own name. See the Regulations below for details of the ‘Teams’.
The CSFC has a simple format with a free-to-enter drop-in qualifying round at host walls across Scotland, an on-line scoring system and selection to attend the Grand Final.
The top five qualifiers from each category will be invited to the Final on Saturday 16 November 2019. This year, the Scottish Final will be held at Transition Extreme, Aberdeen.
