Climbing Taster Sessions

Interested in climbing? Unsure if you want to take it up as a full hobby. This one hour session introduces you the basics and allows you to enjoy a climbing session before committing to a longer course. Only £18 per hour for adults and £14 for kids.

Learn To Climb

Class duration: 2 x 2 hour sessions

Anyone aged over 18 years old interested in taking up climbing can gain the skills and insight needed to get started. It teaches the skills required to register as a competent climber and use the wall unsupervised. This course lasts 4 hours either split over two weeks on the same day of the week or over one weekend. You must be able to attend both sessions scheduled when booking as no refund will be given in the event that a cancellation of the second session is made. Great value at only £90.00 per person, and includes a free annual TX membership (usually £30).

Learn To Lead

Course duration: 2 x 1.5 hour sessions.

Once you’ve got the basics, you’ll need a friend to help you learn the lead walls. Our instructors are more than happy to help you. Only £80.00 per person.

Private Coaching

An hour long session tailored to your own climbing needs and goals. Our experience instructors will help you get there. Only £40.00 per hour for up to 2 people.  Any additional participants are £20 each.

5-7 Fun Club

Saturday 10.00-11.00 & 11.15-12.15
Sunday 11.15-12.15 & 12.30-13.30

These fun sessions are run at a low 1:4 ratio for 5 to 7 year olds, allowing very young climbers to reach the top of their first climbs. Parents are welcome to get involved and watch the action. Only £10.00 per session.

5-7 Fun Club - Improvers

Saturday 12.30-13.30 & 14.15-15.15
Sunday 10.00-11.00 & 14.15-15.15

These fun sessions are run at a low 1:4 ratio for 5 to 7 year olds. The focus on the Improvers club as opposed to the Fun club is progression of climbing and some technical ability. Those wishing to attend the 5 to 7 Improvers club should already be ascending the climbing wall confidently and have an interest in developing their climbing ability. Only £10.00 per session.

NICAS Level 1 & 2 - New and Foundation Climbers

The National Indoor Climbing Awards Scheme (NICAS) is a nationally recognized award scheme that focuses on proficiency and development of climbing skills and ability. The NICAS clubs require registration with the NICAS scheme by purchasing a log book(available at reception), recording your details and registering with the climbing wall staff.

NICAS Levels 1 & 2 are open to ages 8 to 17 however, those 14+ may better enjoy the Climbing Club

Progress through the NICAS sylabus starting with an introduction to climbing (Level 1) and moving towards achieving a level of competence required to safely tie in, belay, and use a climbing facility with minimal supervision(Level 2).
Prerequisite: No experience required

Drop In £14.00 per session.
Block of 4 sessions £52.00.

Block of 4 sessions can be purchased for any date the course runs and they do not have to run concurrently, however, all four sessions must be booked at one time and there are no changing dates without an additional fee.

NICAS Level 3 - Technical Climber

Monday 18.45-20.45

Open ages 8 to 17, those 14+ may better enjoy the Climbing Club.

Continue to work through the NICAS sylabus where more focus is put on developing technique and movement skills. Also gain a better knowledge of climbing as a whole. Learn and understand climbing grades, terms, equipment, competitions, etc. Aimed at ensuring a candidate possesses the knowledge and skill to climb and belay safely at any climbing facility (whether or not under direct supervision) Indepedent climbing is recommended for better progression

Prerequisite: Must have completed NICAS Level 2* before attending this course.

Drop In £14.00 per session.
Block of 4 sessions £52.00.

+ These are block booking sessions and must be booked as a group of 4 consecutive weeks. Block Bookings are designed to offer a more structured progression. It will run over 4 consecutive weeks with the same candidates and same instructor. Always starting the first week of the month. The 5th week of any month will act as a drop in session.

*Bypass Level 1&2 and go directly into Level 3: Candidate must demonstrate competence at a NICAS Level 2 level. At the end of any assessment it is still at the discretion of the climbing team member to make the final call of what level the candidate should enter.

NICAS Level 4 - Lead Climber

Sunday 18.00-19.30

Open ages 8 to 17.

Introduction to Lead Climbing will occur at this level. Upon completion of Level 4 candidates should be at a level required to lead climb at any comparable facility without direct supervision or direction.
Along with working through the NICAS sylabus a stronger emphasis is focused on developing an independent climber.
Independent climbing is recommended for better progression

Prerequisite: Must have completed NICAS Level 3** before attending this course. Minimum performance grades will be introduced at this level as a certain level of physical ability is required to lead safely

Ages under 14 will require undergoing an additional assessment before attending this course. Additional Informed Consent is also required of the parent at this level, meaning the child and parent both must demonstrate they understand and accept the risks involved with lead climbing.

+ These are block booking sessions and must be booked as a group of 4 consecutive weeks. Block Bookings are designed to offer a more structured progression. *Bypass Levels 1,2 &3 and go directly into Level 4: A written and practical assessment need to be performed. Candidates must demonstrate competence at a NICAS Level 3 level. At the end of any assessment it is still at the discretion of the climbing team member to make the final call of what level the candidate should enter.
