Aberdeen's Transition Extreme played host to the first ever UK Volcom happening of Wild in the Parks, the free skateboard event for unsponsored rippers. The event saw a healthy turnout from stunt plank enthusiasts from all over these islands. Some even turned up sober!
The day started on the night before, with the Volcom riders Kris Vile, Ben Raemers, Chris Ault and Rory Milanes turning up to session the park on the Friday night. They were joined by the likes of Paul Silvester, Alex Irvine and the Aberdeen locals to get the party started.
While the session raged, Andy Dobson continued working feverishly on the new ramps he was constructing in the corner of the park.
The Wild in the Parks event was really all about the kids who turned up at midday to enter the comp and get shredding. There were legions of skate rats from all across Scotland ready to get down and dirty for the Volcom pay dirt. Nice touch.

The afternoon contests were split into two divisions; one for 15 and Under and the other 16 and Over. Entrants were allowed to skate the whole park and were judged on overall ability by the Volcom riders. There were 90 riders entered to skate in total and this made for some hectic heats. The skaters were getting crazy and so were the spectators.
The evening session saw two best trick competitions which anyone, sponsored or unsponsored could enter, one on the park's main wallride, and the second in the bowl, which turned into an hour long jam session. Raemers, Vile, Barrack, Div and Colin Adam and Andy Scott were the standouts. Everyone was killing it.
When the action in the park came to an end, those of legal drinking age went along to the after show at Moshulu for some party action. Volcom band NATO entertained the crowd while the athletes refueled in the bar.
Thanks to the Volcom guys Foy, Mike and Kevin Parrott for all their efforts making the day happen. Major thanks too for all the skaters who made long journeys up to Aberdeen from England.
